The Drake University men's and women's basketball teams are set to take to the streets of Des Moines Sept. 30 for Drake Hoops Fest, a one-of-a-kind fan experience on Des Moines' historic Court Avenue.
The centerpiece of the event will be a basketball court, provided by Sport Construction Midwest, at the intersection of 3rd and Court Ave.
In partnership with the Court Avenue Entertainment District, all vehicular traffic will be restricted from the entertainment district, allowing fans to freely walk along Court Avenue while getting a preview of the 2021-22 Bulldogs.
Drake Hoops Fest gets underway at 5 p.m. with a social happy hour featuring many of the restaurants and establishments in the Court Avenue Entertainment District. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the Bulldogs take the court for their public debut led by Missouri Valley Men's Coach of the Year Darian DeVries and first-year women's head coach Allison Pohlman.
The festivities continue after the basketball ends as Silent Disco by Hush takes over the intersection as the sun sets.
