The Drake University women's golf team began its fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Redbird Invitational Sept. 5-6 at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.
The Bulldogs recorded a team score of 302 in the final round to hold their position in the 16-team field.
Kristen Giles carded the team's low round of the day at 1-over par 73 in a round that included three birdies.
Aayushi Sarkar finished just behind Giles on the day with a 75.
Over the three-round event Drake's lineup all finished within 11 strokes of each other and just three strokes separated the team's top four scorers.
Haeri Lee paced the Bulldogs with a total of 79-68-78 – 225 to finish in a tie for 23
rd on the individual leaderboard.
Sam Paulak finished just behind her at 79-71-76 – 226 while Giles posted a 79-75-73 – 227. Sarkar was next at 74-79-75 – 228 and Kelly Kavanaugh finished at 77-79-80 – 236.
EKU won the team event by nine strokes at 284-289-288 – 861. IUPUI's Amelie Svejda earned medalist honors at 70-67-71 – 208 on the 6,022-yard layout.
The Bulldogs continue their fall season next week at the Payne Steward Memorial hosted by Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Mo.
