DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University football team released its 2022 schedule, head coach Todd Stepsis announced on Wednesday (Jan. 26). The slate features 11 games including eight against Pioneer Football League opponents.
 
"The mission of our program is to make being a part of it an experience that our players will never forget and one of the best of their lives," Stepsis said. "That incredible adventure includes our schedule. Not many programs can say they will have faced both teams that played in the 2021 FCS title game in one calendar year like we can. Opening up with the defending ational champions in Fargo, going to Idaho playing in the Kibbie Dome and an ultra-competitive, coast to coast Pioneer League Football schedule make it a great time to be a Drake Bulldog. There's no place we'd rather be than right here, right now."

The Bulldogs begin the 2022 season with a test at Missouri Valley Football Conference powerhouse North Dakota State on Saturday (Sept. 3). The Bison are coming off their ninth FCS national championship.

Drake welcomes Missouri S&T in the home opener at Drake Stadium on Sept. 10 before hitting the road to face Idaho of the Big Sky conference on Sept. 17.
 
The Bulldogs return to Des Moines on Sept. 24 to welcome Marist in the PFL opener. Other home games scheduled include San Diego (Oct. 8), Davidson (Oct. 22) and Butler (Nov. 12).

PFL road games on the 2022 slate include Dayton (Oct. 1), St. Thomas (Oct. 15), Stetson (Oct. 29) and Valparaiso in the regular season finale on Nov. 19.
