ST. LOUIS -- Drake men's basketball freshman swingman Tucker DeVries was selected as Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Jan. 31). 

DeVries helped the Bulldogs to a pair of victories this past week over Illinois State and Loyola with an average of 15.5 points per game. He scored a team-high 18 points, distributed six assists and poked loose two steals on the road in an 89-88 overtime win over the Redbirds on Wednesday (Jan. 26). DeVries added 13 points (3-for-5 from beyond the arc) with three assists and a pair of steals in an 77-68 home win against Loyola on Sunday (Jan. 30).

Drake men's basketball is scheduled next to play at Indiana State on Wednesday (Feb. 2) before welcoming rival UNI to the Knapp Center on Saturday (Feb. 5).
