About Last Week
Drake stayed within striking distance but ultimately fell at home last week on Oct. 8 to San Diego by a final score of 22-10. A rushing touchdown by quarterback
Ian Corwin following a fumbled punt by the Toreros cut the deficit to 15-10 with 13:43 remaining in the fourth quarter. The ensuing kickoff was returned for a touchdown by USD to shift momentum sealing a road victory for the Toreros.
The Bulldogs outgained San Diego in total yards, 372-262 limiting the Toreros to 127 yards rushing and 135 yards passing.

Sophomore running back
Dorian Boyland rushed for 76 yards on 14 carries and caught three passes for 65 yards last Saturday (Oct. 8) against San Diego.
Defensive Difference Makers

Finn Claypool has recorded a sack in three consecutive games, as he has a team-high four sacks on the season. Sophomore linebacker
Sebastian Adamski made his first career interception in the San Diego game, after a pass was batted up in the air by
Riley Theobald.
Disciplined
Drake ranks 12th in all of the FCS in fewest penalties per game (4.17) and 10th in fewest penalty yards per game (34.8).
Stepping Up on Third Down
Drake ranks fourth in the FCS in third down conversion pct. defense. Opposing offenses are 19-for-79 (.241) on third down this season facing the Bulldog defense.
Scouting St. Thomas
St. Thomas held a high-powered Davidson offense to 16 points and only 93 passing yards in a 27-16 win last Saturday, Oct. 8.
Senior defensive back Luke Glenna recorded 22 total tackles (11 solo, one tackle for loss) against the Wildcats to be named FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week.
Sophomore wide receiver Andrew McElroy leads the PFL in all-purpose yards (120.4) so far this season.
The Tommies are in their second season at the NCAA Division-I FCS level transitioning up from NCAA Division-III. Earlier this week, St. Thomas received a vote in the FCS Top-25 Coaches Poll for the first time in school history.
St. Thomas head coach Glenn Caruso has a 127-21 record at the Division III level and is off to an 11-4 start coaching at the FCS level.
Series History vs. St. Thomas
The Tommies and Bulldogs met for the first time on Nov. 13, 2021, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. St. Thomas came away with a 21-14 victory.
