DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake Stadium welcomed just over 1,100 athletes onto the Blue Oval on Sunday, Oct. 16 as part of the IMT Des Moines Marathon. The Blue Oval will be host to the 55th Drake Road Races on Sunday, April 23, 2023, where an anticipated 3,000 athletes will finish their race.
 
Registration for the 55th edition of the Drake Road Races is now open. To celebrate the anniversary year, participants looking to complete the half marathon can register at a special price of only $55. The opening two-day sale extends to the 10k and 5k races as well with pricing for $35 in the 10k and $25 in the 5k. Participants can register during the flash sale to receive up to $30 off race weekend prices. All three races finish on the iconic Blue Oval inside Drake Stadium.

"We are excited to celebrate the 55th annual running of the Drake Road Races in 2023," said Blake Boldon, the Franklin P. Johnson Director of the Drake Relays. "This community event allows us to honor the achievements of athletes of all ages and abilities, just as we have been for more than 112 years with the Drake Relays."
All finishers of the 5k, 10k, and half marathon receive a commemorative finisher's medal, a premium Drake Road Races apparel item and a free ticket to the Distance Carnival on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom.

America's Athletic Classic begins with the Drake Road Races on Sunday, April 23, 2023, and every athlete that crosses the finish line adds their name to the same list of track and field legends who have competed in Drake Stadium.

The Relays Wellness Challenge will continue at the 55th Annual Drake Road Races providing an opportunity for employees at Iowa-based companies to maintain their health and fitness goals. Since 2019, the Relays Wellness Challenge has seen over 50 companies and nearly 6,000 employees participate in the incentive-based wellness competition where points are awarded based on participation in the Drake Road Races and the Grand Blue Mile.
