DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake juniors
Kacie Rewerts and
Jada Wills of the Bulldog volleyball team were both named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced earlier today.
Rewerts is a Kinesiology major from Nevada, Iowa with a 3.93 grade point average and a star front row defender for the Bulldogs. She is nearing the top 10 of Drake's all-time block assists list with 274 and leads the MVC this season with 138 total blocks and 1.37 blocks per set. Rewerts is tied for the most blocks in a three-set match in the conference this season with eight vs. Murray State (10/29). She recorded a season-high nine blocks in the Bulldogs' opening weekend finale at Valparaiso (9/24) and tied a career-high with 13 points in a five-set victory at Missouri State (10/1).
Wills, a Management and Organizational Leadership student with a 3.82 GPA, hails from Dubuque, Iowa. The Drake libero ranks seventh on the program's all-time single season digs list with 582 and climbing. She is currently second in the MVC with 582 digs and an average of 5.29 digs per set this season. Wills has recorded double-digit digs in every match for Drake this season including 30+ three times and a season-high 32 at Valparaiso (9/24).
