DES MOINES, IOWA -- The Drake University tennis team hosted Iowa State on Sunday Feb. 20. The Bulldogs lost, 7-0, against the Cyclones. 

The Bulldogs struggled to gain momentum after the Cyclones found early success in the doubles portion of the day. 

The Cyclones had two nationally ranked participants compete. Miska Kadleckova, who is ranked 36, and her partner Sofia Cabezas defeated Bulldog dup Ines Stephani and Rebecca Ehn, 7-6. 

Iowa State went on to win the other two doubles matches, before sweeping Drake in the singles portion. 

Darinka Stepan and Liza Petushkova gave their opponents a scare when they each won a round to force the match to go on longer. Both won the first set before falling in the second. 

Petushkova faced Thasaporn Naklo, who is ranked 33, and fell, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (10-5). 

The Bulldogs return to action Sunday Feb. 27 when they host Northern Illinois.
