The Drake University women's basketball team is set to play Missouri State on Friday Feb. 11 at 7pm and Southern Illinois on Sunday Feb. 12 at 2pm.
Drake won their most recent meeting with Loyola on Sunday Feb. 6. Junior guard
Megan Meyer led the Bulldogs with 18 points, making four of seven shots from beyond the arc.
Drake took the early lead and went into halftime leading by two. The Ramblers tied the game nine different times but were unable to lead by more than five points.
The Bulldogs were given four points after the Loyola head coach received two technical fouls, sending Drake to the free throw line. Meyer and
Katie Dinnebier took the shots for Drake making all four.
Drake had five player finish the game shooting 100 percent from the line – Meyer, Dinnebier,
Grace Berg,
Maddie Petersen, and
Sarah Beth Gueldner.
Petersen recorded 10 points and two assists in her 24 minutes on the court. She current sits at 975 points and 498 assists on her career.
The Bears are coming off a one and one weekend. Southern Illinois topped Missouri State on Feb. 4, 65-49, but the Bears then topped the Salukis, 53-52 on Feb. 6.
Senior guard Brice Calip led the Bears with 16 points in their loss against SIU.
Senior guard Sydney Wilson led the Bears with 15 points and Calip added 14 points in the Bears win over the Salukis.
Calip and Wilson have led the Bears in scoring this season, since star forward Jasmine Franklin tore her ACL on Dec. 21.
Abby Brockmeyer and Mackenzie Silvey led the Salukis in their meeting with the Bears. Silvey led with 20 points on Friday and Brockmeyer led the team with 19 points on Sunday.
Silvey and Brockmeyer have led Southern Illinois this season in scoring.
The Bulldogs fell to both teams earlier this season in the Knapp Center.
Drake will remain on the road after this weekend as they play at UNI on Saturday Feb. 19.
