BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Drake University student-athlete
Isaac Basten dug deep again to take fifth place in the men's mile run final at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships for First Team All-American honors. Basten's fifth place finish was the highest finish of any Missouri Valley Conference competitor at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
He finished with a time of 4:07.72 at the CrossPlex on Saturday (March 12). The winning time was only 0.18 faster (4:07.54) by Mario Garcia Romo of Ole Miss.
Basten's First Team All-American honor marks the first time that Drake has had back-to-back indoor track & field First Team All-Americans after
Adam Fogg had a fourth place finish at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Speaking of Fogg, the Australian was named a Second Team All-American selection for the 2022 indoor season.
