BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The Drake University tennis team defeated Samford, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Birmingham. 

The Bulldogs found early success in the doubles competition when Matija Matic and Evan Fragistas defeated their opponent 6-3. 

Samford recorded two points from the doubled portion as they won two of the three matches. 

Jeremy Schifris and Oliver Johansson fell to Jim Hendrikx and M.A. Bellalouna by only one point. But the Bulldogs from the south came out on top, 7-6. 

Four Bulldogs from the midwest won their singles matches. Most notably, Fragistas recorded his third straight win in singles play when he defeated J.B> Pickard 6-2, 6-3. 

The Bulldogs remain in Alabama as they are scheduled to take on Alabama on Sunday at 6pm.
