ST. LOUIS – Drake University senior guard
Garrett Sturtz was voted to the Missouri Valley Conference Most Improved Team by the conference's beat writers on Wednesday (March 2).
Sturtz has played in 31 games this season including 17 starts averaging 11.0 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game in 29.6 minutes a night this. He averaged 8.2 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game last season.
A 2021-22 All-MVC Second Team selection, Sturtz leads the team with 43 steals and has recorded six double-doubles this year.
The Newton, Iowa, native started his Drake career as a walk-on and was selected to the MVC All-Bench Team in the previous two seasons.
Drake men's basketball as the No. 3 seed will take on No. 6 seed Southern Illinois in an MVC Tournament semi-final at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Friday (March 4) at 8:30 p.m.
