Softball Finishes Weekend at Evansville

Delaney Taylor and Carey Koenig both homered for the Bulldogs.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Drake University softball team fell to Evansville 5-2 and 12-3 Sunday afternoon. 

Drake defeated the Aces the day prior, but were unable stop them Sunday. 

In game one, Drake took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but struggled to score again. Macy Johnson, Paige Bedsworth, and Emily Valtman all recorded an RBI in the first meeting

Nicole Timmons pitched for Drake, recording nine strikeouts. 

Evansville took the early lead in game two. The Aces scored twice in the second inning and four times in the third to take the early lead over Drake. Delaney Taylor (4th inning, 2-run homer) and Carey Koenig (solo shot in 5th inning) both went deep to produce Drake's three runs in game two.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday March 26 in Normal, Ill. as they take on Illinois State.
