BOSTON – Drake University men's basketball freshman
Tucker DeVries was named a finalist for the 2022 Kyle Macy Award.
DeVries was recognized earlier this month by the Missouri Valley Conference as Freshman of the Year while earning spots on the All-MVC second team, newcomer team and freshmen team. He was also named to the NABC All-District second team.
DeVries led the team in scoring (13.9) and three-point field goals (75). He added 30 blocks, 76 assists, 35 steals and 4.6 rebounds per game. He owns the Drake freshman scoring record (502 points) while becoming just the sixth freshman in MVC history to score over 500 points in a season.
The Kyle Macy Award, which is presented annually to the top freshman in Division-I college basketball, is named for a guard who starred as a freshman for Purdue in 1975.
