NEW ORLEANS – Drake forward Tremell Murphy will participate in the 2022 3X3U National Championship that tips off Friday (April 1) and runs through Sunday (April 3) at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans. The top seniors from across the nation will compete for their share of a prize pool.

Murphy recently concluded his collegiate basketball career at Drake, finishing sixth all-time in program history in career blocks (80). He also recently eclipsed the 1,000 career points plateau with 1,001. The Griffith, Ind., native averaged 9.1 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, 1.1 blocks per game and shot 42.3 percent from the field during the 2021-22 campaign.

In total, the 64 players, who have chosen to pursue professional basketball opportunities, represent each Division I conference. The 16, four-man teams boast an impressive collection of talent that will make for three exciting days of basketball. Murphy will compete on the Horizon Valley Hoopers squad.

Teams will play each squad in their respective pool on Friday and Saturday before all 16 will head to the knockout stage on Sunday, with the top two teams from each pool receiving byes to the quarterfinals.

The 3X3U National Championship will once again receive non-stop coverage via Twitter and on ESPN networks. Every second of the 2022 3X3U National Championship will be available to a national audience beginning with pool play games on Friday and Saturday and knockout rounds on Sunday.
