ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- Drake women's basketball starting guard
Maddie Petersen, earned Second Team Scholar Athletes honors, as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference Tuesday March 8.
Petersen, a graduate guard for the Bulldogs, earned First Team honors in 2021 and Second Team honors in 2020. She also earned All-MVC First Team honors in 2021 and was nominated for the prestigious national Senior CLASS Award.

She graduated in May 2021 with her bachelor's degree and currently maintains a 4.00 GPA as she works toward her master's in Business Analytics, which she will complete in May 2022.
She has played in 149 games and started 147 for the Bulldogs over the last five years, only missing four games due to injury. She is currently tied for 25th in the nation for most game played in their career.
Petersen is one of only three players in Drake history to achieve 1000 points and 500 assists in their career. She was recently accepted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association to participate in the 14
th Annual "So You Want to be a Coach" program.
Petersen will participate in a three day workshop held in April in conjunction with the WBCA National Convention and the Final Four in Nashville, Tenn.
She joins six First Team, four additional Second Team, and five Honorable Mention nominees in this year's MVC Scholar Athlete Team.
