DES MOINES, IOWA -- The Drake University softball team fell to Northern Iowa, 4-1, in its series finals Tuesday evening at Buel Field.
The Bulldogs held off the panthers in the first inning, but after Daryn Lamprecht doubles to center field, UNI took a 2-0 lead.
The top of the fourth brought two more runs for UNI. Maggie Erpelding pinch ran for Emmy Wells and scored after Brooke Snider singled to centerfield and then advanced to second.
The Bulldogs scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth after
Paige Bedsworth tripled to center field, allowing
Addie Lightner to cross home plate.
Bedsworth started in the circle for the Bulldogs, pitching three innings and recording two strikeouts.
Mackenzie Hupke also pitched three innings for Drake and recorded three strikeouts.
Nicole Timmons pitched the final inning for Drake and kept the Panthers from scoring anymore.
Drake heads to Chicago to take on Loyola starting Saturday April 29 at 12pm.
