SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- The No. 4 Drake University softball team faced No. 1 UNI in the semi-final of the Missouri Valley Tournament on Friday May 13. 

The Bulldogs started the meeting with Macy Johnson and Delaney Taylor both getting walked. Two Bulldogs struck out swinging to end the top of the first. 

UNI came out hot in the bottom of the first. Madison Parks slammed a ball past the center field fence to record a three RBI home run and get the Panthers on the board, 3-0. Kylee Sanders later singled to left field, bringing Maggie Erpelding, who pinch ran for Emmy Wells, across home. The Panthers continued their scoring run and ended the first inning on top, 8-0. 

Drake attempted to get on the board in the top of the second. Haylee Lehman had a sacrifice bunt to third base, allowing MaKayla Rice and Carey Koenig to get into scoring positon. 

In the bottom of the second, Sanders reached first on an error by the Bulldogs second base and Taylor Hogan scored to increase the Panthers lead to 9-0. 

Johnson flied out to center field in the top of the fourth, allowing Rice to advance to third and Aubree Beitzinger to score and get Drake on the board 9-1.

The Bulldogs stopped the Panthers scoring in the bottom of the second. Mackenzie Hupke and Emma Richards combined for three strikeouts on the afternoon. 

The Bulldogs conclude their season 21-29, 14-12 in MVC play.
