PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The Drake University rowing team closed out the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships Presented by VisitNJ and 2021-22 season on Sunday, May 15 at Cooper River Park.
Maddie Smith earned All-MAAC First Team honors while
Hailey Hovland secured a place on the All-MAAC Second Team.
"I am so proud of the way our team raced in the championships this year," head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro said. "Even though we didn't get the results we were hoping for they gave 100 percent and I couldn't be more proud."
The Bulldogs qualified for the Grand Final in the first varsity 4 (8:50.595) and first varsity 8 (7:01.154) while moving on to the Petite Final of the second varsity 8 (7:42.412).
Drake's 1V4 boat completed the Grand Final in 8:52.13 while the 1V8 boat turned in a Grand Final time of 7:09.385. In the 2V8 Petite Final, the Bulldogs had a second place finish of 7:43.917.
