GREENWOOD, Ind. – Drake University track & field student-athlete
Isaac Basten earned a spot on the Academic All-District Men's Track & Field Team, selected by CoSIDA. The award with recipients announced on Thursday, May 26, recognizes athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
Basten, a junior data analytics major with a 3.42 grade point average was recently recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference on the track & field Scholar-Athlete team.
The Buffalo, Minn., native placed first in the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship and in the 1500m run at the 2022 MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He earned the accolade of 2022 Track & Field All-American after finishing fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile run.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
Basten is currently competing at the NCAA West Preliminary hosted by the University of Arkansas with the quarterfinal round of the 1500m run set to occur on Friday, May 27.
