DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kristina Lott has resigned as Drake University women's tennis head coach, director of athletics
Brian Hardin announced Friday, Aug. 19.
"I'm incredibly grateful to have been a part of the Drake family for the past three years," Lott said. "With the recent birth of our daughter, I have made the difficult decision to step away from coaching so that I can be home with her full-time. The student-athletes, staff and Des Moines community are what make Drake special. I will miss being a part of it on a daily basis. Although I will be stepping away from Drake in the traditional sense, I will be a fan for life and am looking forward to seeing the continued of success od Drake women's tennis."
Lott was named 2022 Missouri Valley Conference women's tennis Coach of the Year after leading Drake to an MVC regular season title with a 14-7 overall record. She had previously served as the Bulldogs' assistant coach for two seasons and was instrumental in the program's 2021 Missouri Valley Conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance.
"I want to thank Kristina for her incredible contributions to the Drake women's tennis program," Hardin said. "She built upon the team's culture of success and continued the upward trajectory of the program. We will make sure that Drake women's tennis will pursue sustained success in the classroom, competition and community going forward."
Lott came to Drake in August of 2019 after two years as an assistant at Santa Clara where she also assisted in every aspect of the program. She began her coaching career after four years competing on the professional circuit.
