The Basics
The Drake University men's and women's cross country programs have reached opening weekend for the 2022 season. The year kicks off at Minnesota's Oz Memorial in Minneapolis at Les Bolstad Golf Course on Friday evening (Sept. 2) before a couple of runners from the men's team compete at the John Kurtt Invite hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa.

MVC Preseason Polls
The Drake men's cross country team (2021 MVC Champions) was picked second in the Missouri Valley Conference coaches poll earning 110 points and four first place votes. Bradley was picked first in the MVC coaches poll with 112 points.
The Drake women's cross country team was predicted to finish fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference coaches poll 105 points. The Bulldogs took fifth at the 2021 MVC Championships. Bradley was picked first in the MVC coaches poll on the women's side as well with 142 points.
Regional Recognition
The Drake men's cross country team ranks 10
th in the preseason USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings.
Coaches
Jay Koloseus returns as the head cross country coach as he now oversees the entire track & field program. Anna Bearrs joins the staff as associate cross country coach after coaching stints at Akron and South Dakota State. Bearrs competed in the MVC as a student-athlete at Indiana State.
