Kacie Rewerts and
Addison Beagle represented the Bulldogs with a pair of weekly conference honors. Rewerts earned MVC Defensive Player of the Week while Beagle collected her third MVC Freshman of the Week award of the season.
Rewerts had a phenomenal weekend to open MVC action. The Nevada, Iowa native provided ample defensive pressure on the first row of the Bulldog defense with 17 total blocks in two games. She started the weekend with eight blocks in a four-set win at UIC (9/23) and another nine rejections at Valparaiso (9/24). Rewerts' production added to her conference-leading 66 total blocks and 1.32 blocks per set average.
Addison Beagle had another impressive weekend in her Valley debut. The Drake rookie provided 49 assists, eight digs, and three services aces in the MVC opener at UIC (9/23) and came back the next day with 67 assists and six digs at Valpo (9/24). Beagle's 67 assists marked a new career-best and set a new single-season high in the Missouri Valley Conference. She now ranks second in the league with an average of 10.61 assists per set and leads the MVC with 626 total assists.
Rewerts, Beagle and the rest of the Bulldog volleyball team will be back in action this weekend with the final two installments of a four-game road stretch to start conference play. Drake is set to visit Southern Illinois on Friday, Sept. 30 and Missouri State on Saturday, Oct. 1.
