The Basics
Drake volleyball will play host twice this weekend as they take on Bradley on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. and Illinois State on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m.
Bulldogs by the Numbers
Drake will bring home a 16-7 overall record and 9-2 record in MVC play following two wins on the road last weekend. They beat Murray State in five sets to open the road trip (10/20) and swept Belmont (10/21) to follow suit.
Taylor Oberpriller continues to lead the Bulldog offense this season with 319 kills, which is good for 3.89 per set and third in the Missouri Valley.
Haley Bush (277) and
Macy Daufeldt (259) have also been leaders in the Bulldogs' balanced attack. Setter
Addison Beagle is third in the MVC with 789 total assists, and fourth in assists per set at 9.62.
Defensively,
Jada Wills leads the Missouri Valley Conference with 502 digs.
Kacie Rewerts remains in the top spot in the conference at the net, earning 129 blocks for an average of 1.6 per set.
Scouting Bradley
The Braves come into the weekend with a record of 9-15 overall and 2-9 in conference play. They took two wins at home last weekend by sweeping Indiana State (10/20) and defeating Evansville in four sets (10/21).
The team is led offensively by Jasmine Green with 215. Besides Green, they have two other players with over 100 kills: Karagan Coggin (162) and Abby Johnson (119). Loren Scott leads the Racers in assists with 555.
Drake and Bradley have met 72 times in history, with the Bulldogs holding a 38-34 advantage. Drake has taken the last three in a row over Bradley, most recently sweeping the Braves in 2022.
Scouting Illinois State
The Redbirds enter the weekend with an 11-12 overall record and a 9-2 mark in conference play, which is good for third place in the MVC. They are currently riding a nine-game win streak, most recently defeating Evansville (10/20) and Indiana State (10/21).
The Redbirds' attack is paced by Aida Shadewald with 288 kills. Kara Cooper has contributed 139 kills to the attack. Emily Weber leads the team in assists with 707, good for the sixth most in the conference.
The conference foes have met 73 times, with Illinois State holding a 58-13 lead. Most recently, the Bulldogs beat the Redbirds earlier in the 2023 season in four sets.
