ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Senior middle blocker Kacie Rewerts has been a stalwart on the Bulldogs front line this season and was rewarded with this week's MVC Defensive Player of the Week award, the league announced this afternoon.
 
She demonstrated her dominance in Drake's back-to-back 3-0 wins over Indiana State (10/6) and Evansville (10/7). The defensive star collected 12 total blocks for an average of 2.00 per set in the Bulldogs' two sweeps. Rewerts began the weekend with eight rejections vs. the Sycamores, tying her season high for the fifth time this season. The Nevada, Iowa native then finished the weekend with four more blocks against Evansville. She also added some assistance on offense with nine total kills.
 
Rewerts sits in a close second in the MVC with 96 total blocks and leads the league with an average of 1.48 blocks per set.
 
Kacie joins fellow Bulldog Jada Wills as the two Bulldogs to earn the weekly Defensive Player of the Week award this season.
