DES MOINES, Iowa – Three Drake players were included on the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference volleyball scholar-athlete teams, the league announced this morning. Libero of the Year
Jada Wills added another academic honor to her personal records with a First Team selection. Both
Kacie Rewerts and
Addison Beagle also earned Second Team recognition.
Wills currently ranks third all-time in total career digs at Drake with 1,898 and posted the second-highest total in a single season with 728 last year. She earned back-to-back MVC Defensive Player of the Week award to start the 2023-24 season and was named to the Washington State Cougar Challenge All-Tournament Team early on (9/2). Wills has tallied a team-high 641 digs this season including a season-high 39 against Valpo (9/30). She has notched 10+ digs in 29 of 30 matches this season and has recorded at least 30 digs in four contests. Wills holds a 3.88 GPA in Business Management.
Rewerts has had a stellar senior season with a team-high 162 blocks this year. She posted a season-high nine at Belmont (10/21) and has made at least one block in every match. The Nevada, Iowa native has recorded at least eight blocks in seven matches including back-to-back eight-block outputs against South Florida (9/9) and Ohio (9/14). Rewerts is now fourth all-time in total career blocks for Drake with 509 and second in career block assists with 448. She was named to the South Dakota Classic All-Tournament Team (9/9) and earned MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors (10/9). Rewerts boasts a GPA of 3.89 in Kinesiology.
Lastly,
Addison Beagle joined Rewerts on the Scholar-Athlete Second Team. The 2022 MVC Freshman of the Year was named to the Cardinal & Gold Classic All-Tournament team at Iowa State (9/18) and earned MVC Player of the Week honors for her efforts. Beagle holds the Drake volleyball record for assists in a season with 1,613 as a freshman and sits at fifth all-time for career assists with 2,571. The second-year player has tallied a team-high 958 assists this season including a season-high 62 against Ohio (9/14). Beagle has notched at least 30 distributions in 15 different matches this season. She has also chipped in defensively with at least two digs in every match and a season-best 14 against Marquette (8/26). Beagle is studying Law, Politics, & Society and Marketing with a 3.81 GPA.
