DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake's
Haley Bush earned MVC Player of the Week honors after she made Bulldog history over the weekend. The fifth-year player went off for 21 kills in a dramatic five-set victory over Evansville (11/3) to surpass former Drake star Angela Bys to reset the program's career kills record.
Overall, Bush totaled 34 kills, with another 13 in the weekend finale vs. Indiana State (11/4), an average of 3.37 kills per set, plus 16 digs, four assists, three blocks, and 39 total points. Bush has also eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark to become just the fifth player in Drake history to record 1,000+ kills and assists. The Waukee, Iowa native now has 1,646 kills and counting as is one of three Bulldog hitters with at least 300 kills on the season and ranks eighth in The Valley.
