ST. LOUIS -- Brooke Mullins of Drake cross country was selected as the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Emilie Meyer and
Carmen Krawczynski Gonzalez also earned spots on the MVC Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete team.
Brooke Mullins carries a 3.86 grade point average majoring in management & organizational leadership. She ran a 6k personal best and course record of 20:13.8 to be the first Drake women's cross country runner since Ashley Anklam in 2006 to win at the MVC Championships. Mullins cemented herself as the sixth-ever women's cross country individual champion from Drake.
Emilie Meyer (21:49.5) finished 18
th in the MVC XC Championships and
Carmen Krawczynski Gonzalez (21:51.6) was 20
th both. Meyer is a business studies major with a 3.91 major while Krawczynski Gonzalez has a 3.84 GPA majoring in psychology.
The Drake men's and women's cross country programs will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, Nov. 10 in Stillwater, Okla.
