MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Drake University women's tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches in the Twin Cities this weekend. The Bulldogs started the trip with a 6-1 victory over St. Thomas on Saturday, Feb. 11. Drake's winning streak was then halted at two matches when Minnesota upended the Bulldogs 4-2 on Sunday, Feb. 12.
 
In the weekend debut, St. Thomas earned a doubles point to start the day. The duo of Darinka Stepan and Mille Haagensen picked up Drake's only doubles win over the Tommies.
 
Drake proceeded to roll through singles play, sweeping all six matches. Stepan stood out in the individual action earning a 6-2, 6-0 win in the third position over Shrichandrakala Tentu.
 
The Bulldogs were not as sharp in Sunday's tilt, a 4-2 loss to the host Golden Gophers of Minnesota. The Gophers earned the doubles point with a pair of wins.
 
In singles action, Oriana Parkins-Godwin and Jyun-Yi Lee both won via forfeit to garner Drake's two points.
 
The Bulldogs, now 4-3 on the season, will be back in action next weekend when they host Creighton on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.
