ST. LOUIS – Drake placed a student-athlete on each of the Missouri Valley Conference Most Improved, All-Bench and Scholar-Athlete teams. The MVC announced the teams on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
 
Darnell Brodie earned a spot on the MVC Most Improved Team after starting all 31 games this season. He averages 8.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per game this season after averaging 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds last season in 18.2 minutes a night. Brodie has scored in double-figures in 13 games after eight double-figure games all last season. The Newark, N.J., native has recorded four double-doubles this season after not having a double-double performance during the 2021-22 campaign.
 
Newcomer Sardaar Calhoun found a place on the MBC All-Bench Team having played in 28 games averaging 7.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game this season. Calhoun scored a career-high 18 points in the season-opener against IUPUI and had a stretch of three straight double figures scoring games Dec. 10-20 including 17 points in Drake's win over then No. 15 Mississippi State.
 
Redshirt freshman guard Conor Enright has accumulated a 3.78 GPA majoring in marketing en route to being recognized as an MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention. He has seen action in all 31 games including four starts while averaging 4.3 points and 1.7 assists per game.

Drake men's basketball as the No. 2 seed will take on the winner of No. 7 Murray State/No. 10 Valparaiso in MVC Tournament quarterfinal at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Friday (March 3) at 6 p.m.
