The Basics
The Drake men's golf team will open its spring season at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club (Par 72 | 7,153 yards) in Dade City, Fla., competing in the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event hosted by Ball State.

The two-day event consists of 54 holes of match play competition. Teams are seeded one through eight based on GolfStat rankings and then placed into a bracket. All teams are guaranteed three matches with losing teams from the first and second rounds continuing to compete in a consolation bracket. Each team match will consist of six individual matches.

The first round will begin Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start, followed by continuous play for the second round. The final round will be played Tuesday, Feb. 7, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Match 1: No. 8 Central Michigan vs. No. 1 Ball State
Match 2: No. 5 Eastern Michigan vs. No. 4 High Point
Match 3: No. 6 Loyola vs. No. 3 Western Michigan
Match 4: No. 7 Drake vs. No. 2 Dayton

Scoring Rules
Matches
Each team match will be comprised of six singles matches, using USGA match play scoring
 
Each singles match winner will be awarded 1 point
 
Matches tied will be awarded ½ point
 
The team match score will be determined by totaling the points for the six singles matches
 
The team with the most points will be the advancing winner
 
Team Matches Tied
Team matches that are tied will be decided by using the following procedure:
If a team match is tied after the completion of the six singles matches, the tie will be broken by comparing the total # of winning match margin of victory and adding those together.
 
Example:

#2 won 3 and 1                     #1 won 4 and 3
#4 won 1 up                          #3 won 2 and 1
#5 halved                               #5 halved
#6 halved                               #6 halved
4 holes won                           6 holes won
 
Since Team B's margin of victory was 6 holes (4 and 3, 2 and 1), Team B wins the tiebreaker.
