Larry Bird Trophy
For the sixth time in history and the first time since Adam Emmenecker in 2008, a Drake men's basketball student-athlete took home the honor of Larry Bird Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year with sophomore swingman
Tucker DeVries being presented the Larry Bird trophy at the MVC men's basketball awards banquet on Wednesday, March 1.
DeVries became the fifth-ever Drake player to earn the honor. He joined Emmenecker, Curt Smith, Lewis Lloyd (twice) and Jeff Halliburton as the only Drake student-athletes to hoist the Larry Bird trophy. DeVries was the MVC Preseason Player of the Year and has averaged 18.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists over the course of 30 games this season.
Roman Penn received the third-most first place votes for the Larry Bird Trophy behind DeVries and Bradley's Rienk Mast.

Drake at Arch Madness
Drake is 25-43 all-time in the MVC Tournament with its last and only tourney title coming in 2008. The Bulldogs have gone 6-4 in the last four editions of the tournament with back-to-back championship game appearances.
Prior to the 2019-20 season, the Bulldogs only had one MVC Tournament win since 2013.
Drake is the No. 2 seed for the third time in program history. The Bulldogs are 4-2 all-time as the MVC Tournament No. 2 seed.
