IOWA CITY, Iowa -- With play pushed up a day due to forecasted weather, the Drake men's golf took advantage firing a first round score of 293 at the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by Finkbine Golf Course (Par 72 | 7174 yards) on Friday, April 14. 

Drake is currently seventh as a team following the opening round. 

Jack Dumas finalized a first round score of 70 (-2) to tie for 7th place after 18 holes. Fellow sophomore Nikko Ganas fired a 72 (E) as he saw himself tied 16th for his first round efforts. 

Lucas Scherf turned in a 75 (+3) to start as he seeks his fourth consecutive Top-20 finish this season. Nate Spear and Nick Pittman both wrapped up round one with a 76 (+4) to round the Bulldog lineup. Shayne Patel shot a 75 (+3) while competing as an individual. 

The second round started on Friday evening with the remaining holes to be played on Saturday (April 15) beginning at 9 a.m.
