ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Anthony Barmes earned Missouri Valley Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season while
Isaac Basten took home MVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Wednesday, April 19.
Barmes bettered his own MVC men's hammer throw record (70.53m/231' 5") to win the Jim Duncan Invitational on Friday (April 14) and become the first MVC thrower to ever reach 70m. He set the meet record with a throw that ranks ninth in the NCAA and second in the Midwest region. Barmes is the highest-ranked field athlete in the MVC.
Basten ran a personal best of 3:36.99 in a loaded Bryan Clay Invitational field on Saturday (April 15) while breaking the Drake and MVC men's 1500m record.
Drake track & field will compete at the John Jacobs Invitational hosted by Oklahoma on Friday, April 21.
