ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake again relied on the right arm of their ace pitcher Mackenzie Hupke in their three-game series at Valpo. The Independence, Iowa native saw time in all three games and picked up wins in two as Drake swept the Beacons.
 
She threw a total of 13 innings and struck out 21 strikeouts while allowing just a single run. Hupke's first victory came in the series opener (4/21) as she equaled her career-high in K's with 13 and gave up just three hits in a 4-1 complete game victory. Then, after fanning two Beacons in an inning of relief work in the middle game of the series, Hupke came back for her second complete game of the weekend. In the finale (4/23), she sat down six more batters and gave up just one hit in a five-inning CG as Drake won via mercy rule. She is now 7-7 on the year.
 
Hupke and the Bulldogs are set to take on UNI in their third and final matchup of the year tonight before traveling to Nashville, Tenn. for their first-ever meeting with MVC-newcomer Belmont from Apr. 28-30.
