WACT Fields Set For 113th Drake Relays, Will Air Live On CBS Sports Network Saturday Afternoon

Two current World Record holders headline this year’s edition of America’s Athletic Classic, airing from 2-4 pm CDT on April 29.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The final entries for the 14 World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Level events at the Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom have been revealed. And for the second-consecutive year, CBS Sports Network will air many of those events live from Drake Stadium Saturday, April 29, from 2-4 pm CDT.

"Saturday is shaping up to be the 57th consecutive Saturday sellout of the Drake Relays so we're excited that CBS Sports Network will air the action to everyone who couldn't get one of the coveted tickets to Saturday's action," Franklin P. Johnson Director of the Drake Relays Blake Boldon said. "Continuing our partnership with CBS Sports Network is a wonderful opportunity to showcase these world class athletes, alongside the inaugural Collegiate Wheelchair National Championship live to a national audience. We are eager to show the rest of the country the incredible performances that will occur on the Blue Oval tomorrow."

Brent Stover will bring his play-by-play talent to the broadcast, Lewis Johnson and Shannon Rowbury will provide analysis, and Brad Wells will be trackside for post-race interviews.

Highlighting the schedule of events is the Xtream Sprint Series featuring the reigning Olympic champion, Hansle Parchment, in the men's 110m hurdles and the world record holder in the women's 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan. Amusan will face one of the best hurdle fields assembled anywhere in the world so far in 2023 with six of the top-10 ranked athletes in the event, according to World Athletics. The field includes two past World champions, Nia Ali (2019) and Danielle Williams (2015), in addition to the reigning Drake Relays champion, Tia Jones.

Other stars to watch in the Continental Tour Silver Level competition program include two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and current world record holder, Ryan Crouser, in the men's shot put and reigning shot put world champion in the women's shot put, Chase Ealey. The men's and women's hammer competitions were contested last night with men's American record holder, Rudy Winkler, and reigning women's world champion, Brooke Andersen, capturing the titles.

Friday's evening's session will include the women's 3000m steeplechase as a featured event. The competition includes world class athletes from six different continents to embody the elite status of World Athletics Continental Tour.

Highlights of the week, in addition to 11 live events, will all be featured during the 2-4 p.m. CDT broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

"Saturday's lineup is set to dazzle another sellout crowd here at Drake Stadium," Boldon said. "We are set for a historic edition of America's Athletic Classic and fans, whether they're here in person or watching the broadcast, won't want to miss this lineup."
