DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake women's tennis team were given their postseason assignment this evening. The 2023 MVC Champions will take on a familiar foe to start tournament play when they visit Iowa State on Friday, May 5.

Drake enters the national tournament on an eight-game winning streak with a 16-7 overall record and a 7-1 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bulldogs earned the No. 2 overall seed in the MVC tournament and upset league champ and tournament host Illinois State to clinch a berth in the NCAA bracket.

Big 12 Coach of the Year Boomer Saia brings the 18-5 (7-2) Cyclones into national tournament action. Iowa State's berth in the NCAA Tournament is their third in-a-row.

Drake hosted Iowa State in their first match of the spring this season. The Cyclones blanked Drake 7-0 on Jan. 14.

The Bulldogs and Cyclones will take the court at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at Ames High School.
