BASTEN EARNS FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICA HONORS WITH TOP FIVE FINISH AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
AUSTIN, Texas – Drake University track & field student-athlete
Isaac Basten clocked another impressive 1500m performance with a time of 3:43.33 in the NCAA Division I Track & Field Outdoor championships final at Mike A. Myers Invitational on Friday, June 9.
Basten, the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships mile runner-up added another Outdoor All-America accolade with his First Team honor after a fifth-place finish. He was a Second Team Outdoor All-American in 2022.
Basten charged late but could not chase down a pair of Washington Huskies as UW's Nathan Green and Joe Waskom took gold and silver with respective times of 3:42.78 and 3:42.93. Wisconsin's Adam Spencer rounded out the top three.
Drake men's track & field has had a finalist in the mile or 1500m run at six consecutive NCAA Championships. The Buffalo, Minn., native concluded a successful 2022-23 Drake track & field season.
