MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Drake women's soccer team ran past Parkside in a 4-0 shutout victory at Uihlein Soccer Park on Friday, Aug. 18.
"It's great to start the season with a shutout win," head coach
Lindsey Horner said. "Today was another opportunity to continue to get on the same page in the final third. We left a few good chances on the table but I'm pleased to be able to have so many people play. We are looking forward to what will be a tough matchup on Sunday."
North Dakota transfer
Hannah Olson converted the first goal of the season when she knocked the ball into the lower left of the net during the eighth minute.
Maddie Rosenblum scored back-to-back goals (25', 27') with the second assisted by
Paige Millstone. The Bulldogs had a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.
Drake continued to control the tempo in the second half. Newcomers
Angela Gutierrez and
Maria Cervello teamed up for a goal from
Avery Mertz in the 85th minute to cap off the dominant effort.
Addie Ford (73 minutes in net) and
Kelti Wise (17 minutes in net) teamed up for the shutout.
Next up for Drake women's soccer is a noon kickoff at Green Bay on Sunday, Aug. 20.
