NORMAL, Ill. – The Drake women's golf team started the 2023 fall campaign at the Redbird Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 10. The Bulldogs navigated Illinois State's Weibring Golf Club (306-302-608) and are in ninth place out of 16 teams following day one.
 
Rylee Heryford (78-73--151) and Aayushi Sarkar (76-75--151) pace Drake through the opening two rounds. Newcomer Julie Huggins (76-77--153) was not far behind. 
 
Erika Holmberg (72-83--155) began the season even par as Amber Henson (80-77--157) sits two strokes behind her after two rounds. Kate Connolly (82-77--159) rounded out the Drake competitors in her collegiate debut. 
 
The final round of the Redbird Invitational is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 11).
