ST. LOUIS -- Not just one, but two Drake women's soccer student-athletes were recognized in the Missouri Valley Conference weekly awards on Sept. 12.
Addie Ford was named Goalkeeper of the Week while
Zoey Mahoney received Freshman of the Week status from the league.
Ford has been a key part of Drake's four-match unbeaten streak. On Thursday in the 1-1 draw, Ford's 11 saves were the most in a single game by a Drake goalkeeper and the first double-digit save game for the Bulldogs since
Kelsie Stone set a program record with 18 saves on Oct. 3, 2021 versus Loyola. Ford made two saves to earn her first career clean sheet including a key save swatting a late 89th minute shot away from Omaha in the 1-0 victory on Sunday.
Mahoney was a key part of Drake's fourth shutout of the season on Sunday, a 1-0 victory over Omaha. She also provided an assist on the only goal of the game. Mahoney logged 71 minutes against St. Thomas on Thursday and 58 minutes on Sunday.
The Bulldogs continue their eight-game homestand with their non-conference finale against South Dakota on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.
