Bulldogs back at home for pair of MVC tilts

The Basics
The Drake women's soccer team is back in Des Moines for a pair of matches after a road trip to the Hoosier State last week as it begins the final stretch of the 2024 regular season. The Bulldogs are set to host the Belmont Bruins for a match on Oct. 13 followed by another home contest versus University of Illinois-Chicago on Oct. 17.
 
Bulldogs by the Numbers
After having a Thursday off-day this week, Drake currently posts an overall record of 3-6-5 on the season. In conference play, the Bulldogs are 2-2-1 and sit in seventh place totaling seven points in the current standings. In games that have been played at Mediacom Stadium, Drake has gone 2-3-2.

Scouting Belmont
The Bruins make the trip to Des Moines coming off a 1-1 draw with UNI on Thursday. Belmont posts an overall record of 6-7-2 and is currently third on the MVC table with 10 points and a conference record of 3-2-1. The Bruins have been successful in games played outside the Music City this season posting a 5-3-1 road record.
 
The Bulldogs and the Bruins have a limited history of matchups with just two games played all-time. Drake has won both contests and is outscoring Belmont by a mark of 4-2.

Scouting UIC  
The Flames struggled during their non-conference slate this season going 1-7 but have turned their fortunes around since entering the conference portion of their schedule. UIC is currently riding a six-match unbeaten streak and post a 4-0-2 conference record. The Flames are currently in second place in the MVC standings with 14 points and have a match with Valley leaders Missouri State on Sunday (Oct. 13) before their trip to Des Moines.
 
In the all-time series Drake has the slight advantage over UIC, 3-2. The Bulldogs got the better of the Flames in their most recent match in the MVC Tournament a season ago, but prior to that UIC had won two-straight over Drake.

Drake will play its final two road matches of the regular season first taking on UNI for an in-state battle on Oct. 20 and then it heads to Southern Illinois for a contest with the Salukis on Oct. 24.
