Women's Soccer Preview: Indiana State and Evansville

Bulldogs travel to Indiana for pair of MVC road contests

The Basics
The Drake women's soccer team heads to Indiana for a pair of road matches this week as it continues Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bulldogs first take on Indiana State on Thursday, Oct. 3, followed by a contest with Evansville on Sunday, Oct. 6.
 
Bulldogs by the Numbers
Drake has taken two of its first three conference matches this season and has improved its overall record to 3-5-4 coming off recent victories over Valparaiso and Illinois State. The Bulldogs take their two-game winning streak on the road where they are 1-2-2 in games played away from Des Moines.

Scouting Indiana State
The Sycamores come into the contest with the Bulldogs with an overall record of 6-3-3 and are 1-1-1 in MVC play. In its last two matches, Indiana State lost to Missouri State, who sits at the top of the league standings, and tallied a draw against Southern Illinois.
Drake has the advantage in the all-time series over Indiana State leading 17-6-3. The Bulldogs have also had the upper hand recently against the Sycamores tallying a record of 6-2-2 in the last 10 matches.

Scouting Evansville  
The Aces will host UNI ahead of their Sunday contest with the Bulldogs and currently hold a record of 1-4-4 on the 2024 season while posting a 0-1-2 MVC record. In its two matches last week, Evansville earned two points after securing two draws against Murray State and Missouri State. The Aces also feature the current MVC Freshman of the Week in defender Emily Brenner who garnered the honor after scoring the lone goal for Evansville against Missouri State.
In the all-time series, the Bulldogs lead the Aces with a mark of 15-10-3. In the last 10 matchups between Drake and Evansville, the Dogs have had success going 6-1-3.
