The Basics
The Drake women's tennis team will be squaring off in the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship Oct. 4-6 in Chicago, Ill. with league titles on the line.
Bulldogs by the Numbers
Nicole Lee and Elizabete Klavinska reached championship round for the Flight 3 Doubles Draw, and Lee even made it to the finals for the Flight 6 Singles Draw.
With a strong Bulldog presence in the tournament in the previous year, the four-athlete roster will work to keep those standards high.
Elizabete Klavinska,
Laura Koralnik, and
Nicole Lee will work to also get freshman
Jessica Popiol ready for the weekend full of competition that is sure to impress.
Popiol stood out in Drake's first meet of the year last weekend. The freshman accounted for six victories with wins in all three of her singles bouts and teamed up with fellow newcomer
Laura Koralnik for a pair of doubles wins at the Gopher Invite in Minneapolis.
Last year, the Bulldogs played well against their competition clinching a few titles to take back to Des Moines.
Mille Haagensen and
Darinka Stepan secured the Flight 2 Doubles Championship with singles appearances in the finals for both.
Ines Stephani was a respective finalist in the Flight 1 Singles before she joined
Oriana Parkins-Godwin to take the runner-up spot in the Flight 1 Doubles Draw.
The order of competition is not yet live, but order of play will be determined before 9 a.m. on Oct. 4 and live on the MVC Sports website along with live score updates.
