Minneapolis, MINN. - The Drake University Rowing team wrapped up a successful Saturday competing in the Head of the Mississippi, where they raced in three events.
The day kicked off with a varsity four race at 9:30 a.m., where Drake boats notched a six-place finish, an eighth-place finish and a ninth-place finish. The highest Bulldog finish was a varsity four rowed by Caitlin Figge,
Camille Gretter,
Allyson Afrank,
Cayden Anderson and Skyler Duke. They finished with an 18:24.275 time.
"We're really happy," Head Coach
Charlie DiSilvestro said. "The team put all the hard work they've been doing into some great racing.
Sarah Chastain,
Camille Gretter, Izzy Silva, and
Katherine Meck all did a great job."
DiSilvestro said the coxswains, Gretter, Silva and Meck, all performed well navigating the Mississippi River's strong wind currents.
The women's novice eight finished in third place out of four boats in their first-ever race with a time of 20:09.225 in its race at 9:45 a.m.
To round out the day, the three Bulldog eight boats raced at 12:15. The first two Drake boats finished in fifth and sixth place and the final Bulldog boat finished in 9th place in a pool of 11 boats. The varsity eight of Liliana Magnuson,

"The results were something we were happy with, DiSilvestro said. "We were happy with our racing, but we know this is just the beginning."
