ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Bennett Stirtz and Mitch Mascari have been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
 
Stirtz averaged 18.0 points, 7.7 assists, and 5.0 rebounds over three games at the Charleston Classic to lead Drake to the tournament title along with being named tournament MVP.  He recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 assists in the championship game versus Vanderbilt.  The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 with wins double-digit victories against Miami (Fla.), FAU, and Vanderbilt in the tournament.  Stirtz played all but the final two seconds of the three-game MTE, with full 40-minute games against both Miami and FAU.
 
Mascari averaged 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in three games at the Charleston Classic to help lead Drake to the tournament title, while making three or more three-pointers in every game shooting 57-percent (12-21) from behind the arc.  He scored a game-high 22 points in Drake's win over FAU in the semifinal round of the Charleston Classic going 6-for-8 from three-point distance and going 4-for-4 from the free throw line.  For the three games in Charleston, he was a perfect 14-of-14 from the stripe. Through games on Nov. 24, Mascari is tied for 19th in the nation making an average of 3.67 three-pointers per game.
 
Drake returns to the court this weekend as they host Georgia Southern from the Knapp Center on Saturday Nov. 30.
