DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake softball head coach
Lindsay Diehl has announced the complete schedule for the 2025 season. The Bulldogs will play a total of 52 games over the course of the season with 15 contests taking place in Des Moines.
Drake begins its 2025 campaign with a trio of early season tournaments. The Bulldogs will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa Feb. 8-9 for the Doc Halverson UNI Dome Tournament, followed by trips to Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Feb. 21-23) and Kansas City, Missouri (Mar. 7-9) for the Easton Bama Bash and the Kansas City Roos Invitational. While in Tuscaloosa, the Bulldogs will face off against Women's College World Series participant from last season Alabama twice and NCAA Regional qualifier Virginia Tech.
In between the Easton Bama Bash and the Kansas City Roos Invitational, the Bulldogs will spend the weekend of Feb. 28-Mar. 2 in the Sooner State. Drake will go up against Kansas City to start the weekend followed by three games against Tulsa. The Bulldogs will close the weekend with a showdown from Stillwater against 2024 Women's College World Series participant Oklahoma State.
After a midweek clash at Creighton (Mar. 11), the Bulldogs open Missouri Valley Conference Play with back-to-back road series against Belmont (Mar. 14-16) and Bradley (Mar. 21-23).
On March 25, the Bulldogs take on Western Illinois in Macomb and come back to Des Moines for its home opening weekend versus Indiana State (Mar. 28-30).
The remaining non-conference slate for Drake features a doubleheader from Des Moines with South Dakota (Apr. 2) and in-state road contests against Iowa (Apr. 22) and Iowa State (Apr. 30).
When it comes to the rest of MVC play, Drake will host Illinois State (Apr. 4-6), UIC (Apr. 18-20), and Missouri State (May 2-4). The Bulldogs will have road conference series against Evansville (Apr. 11-13) and Valparaiso (Apr. 25-27) to go along with the Belmont and Bradley series mentioned earlier.
Drake and in-state rivals UNI will play three midweek contests during the 2025 season. The Bulldogs and Panthers will take to the diamond twice in Cedar Falls (Apr. 1 & 15) and once in Des Moines (Apr. 8)
The Missouri Valley Conference Tournament will be held in Des Moines this year and begin on May 7.
