The Basics
Drake men's tennis is slated to face North Dakota on the road on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 1:30 p.m. The match is the first Summit League action for the Bulldogs in 2024.
Head Coach Ben Lott on the Upcoming Match
"Always exciting to get started with conference play. This weekend is a good opportunity for us to get a strong start to conference play and set the benchmark for the goals we have for the remainder of the year. UND always brings good energy to the courts, so we need to be ready to fire and execute this weekend."
Bulldogs by the Numbers
The Bulldogs are 7-4 on the year and are 2-2 in their last four games. Their most recent match was a 5-2 home victory over Wichita State.

Scouting the Competition
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks are 3-10 overall and have dropped five of their last six matches. Their wins came against Gustavus Adolphus, Lindenwood and Marquette. The match against Drake will also be their first conference opponent of 2024. The Fighting Hawks were picked to finish fifth in the Summit League in the preseason coaches poll.
North Dakota's preseason athlete to watch was Victor Moreno Lozano, a graduate student transfer. Lozano played four years at Nebraska before transferring to North Dakota for his graduate season.
North Dakota has never won a match against Drake men's tennis. The Bulldogs hold a pristine 7-0 record over the in-conference opponent. The Bulldogs and the Fighting Hawks squared off twice in 2023, and Drake won 4-0 and 5-2.
Tom Boysen is the head coach for Fighting Hawks men's tennis. He was hired as head coach in 2021 and was given the job of coaching both men's and women's tennis. In his second season as head coach, both of his teams made it to postseason play.
