Tucker DeVries was recognized regionally and nationally for his two outstanding performances that led to a pair of wins last week. DeVries was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and Lou Henson National Player of the Week in Drake's final week of regular season competition in 2023-24, the organizations announced on Monday, March 5
This is DeVries' third MVC Player of the Week and second Lou Henson National Player of the Week honor this season. DeVries averaged 34.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists across two wins. In a triple overtime thriller at UIC on Wednesday, DeVries poured in a career-high 39 points, career-high 13 rebounds and matched his career-high of seven assists. On Sunday in a 74-66 win over Bradley at the Knapp Center, he scored a game-high 29 points (23 in the first half) while swiping a career and game-high four steals again and was 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. DeVries has scored over 30 points four times this season and moved into No. 2 on the Drake career scoring list with 1,790 points, passing Josh Young.
Drake men's basketball will play the winner of 7-seed Illinois State and 10-seed Evansville in the quarterfinal round of the State Farm MVC Tournament on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m.
