DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Drake softball team was limited to one hit in a 6-0 loss to UNI at Ron Buel Field on Tuesday, April 23.
After a scoreless first inning, the Panthers loaded the bases with one out in the top of the second. Daryn Lamprecht reached on a fielder's choice while Ava Smithson crossed home plate for the first run of the game. Lamprecht wasn't done as she hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth.
Trailing 3-0, Drake's lone hit occurred in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Frankie Rita singled through the right side of the infield.
Another UNI homer, this time by Kate Lappe, boosted the Panthers to 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth before a bunt single off the bat of Taylor Logan plated UNI's fifth run of the game. Lappe doubled home the final run of the game in the top of the sixth as UNI improved to 25-15 overall and 13-5 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Emma Dighton (2-10) was saddled with the loss allowing five runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings of work with three walks and a strikeout.
Drake (19-22, 7-11) will travel to the Windy City April 26-28 for a three-game series at UIC.
